The Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority has acquired an unmanned surface vessel (APACHE 5) for hydro graphic survey and mapping of its water bodies. Apache 5 is one of the newest robot technology specifically made to navigate water for the purpose of underwater survey, networked measurement solutions, data collation and analysis.

Apache 5 will be used by the Authority for:

• Geomorphological survey and mapping
• Under water geological exploration
• Channel survey
• Under water monitoring
• Hydro graphic survey

To this effect, the Authority has organised a three- day- training on APACHE use for some staff of the RBDAs and relate dinstitutions. The training program was handled by Engr. Yann and Engr. Louis from Shanghai Huance Navigation Technology (CHCNAV) China.
