COVID 19: LOWER NIGER RIVER BASIN SUPPORTS KWARA STATE GOVERNMENT
The Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority, a parastatal of the Federal Ministry of Water Resources has donated some items to Kwara State Government.
The items which were presented on Wednesday, 22nd April, 2020 at the Deputy Governor\'s office, Ilorin include: 200 numbers of 2 inches PVC pipes, 5 numbers of knapsack sprayers and 10 numbers of one horse power submersible pumps. The Authority also volunteered to drill boreholes at isolation centres and provide technical assistance for rehabilitation of boreholes and other underground facilities.
According to the Managing Director of the Authority, Dr Adeniyi Saheed Aremu, the items and services to be rendered by the Authority is a social responsibility and effort to support the Kwara State Government in the fight against the spread of Coronavirus disease. He lauded the effort of the Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and the State COVID-19 response team led by the Deputy Governor, Mr Kayode Alabi for their efforts so far and promised them of the support of the Federal Government through Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority.
Also speaking, the Executive Director (Planning, Investigation and Design), Engr. Rasheed Oyedeji said the Authority\'s action is a response to the call of President Muhammadu Buhari that everyone should rise and fight this pandemic together so that we will all be set free in no time.
Receiving the items on behalf of Kwara State Government, the Deputy Governor thanked the Authority for the kind gesture and her usual support and partnership with the State Government. He added that all items will be promptly distributed to places where they are needed.
